Lord Jesus,
Thank you for remaining by me, even when I chose to drift away from you.
Your love for me is so great, that even as a prodigal child, you still called me yours.
Through your compassion, I was given the opportunity to come to you, fully ready.
And now, I can offer that same gentleness to others.
Jesus, you know that living in this world can be complicated, but your yoke is easy.
In your faithfulness, you offer a way out of temptation, and in your perfectness, you are never tempted to abandon what you have called yours.
In your humanness, you identify with all of our struggles, so that we need never feel alone, even when our minds tell us other.
You breathe the Holy Spirit into all who believe, so that we are equipped to go into the world, and still rest in your truth.
I am learning patience, as you are patient.
You did not withhold good things from me, even when I was led astray and distracted.
Now I come to you, ready to live within your will,
ready to let what you have to reveal to me unfold, in your time, when you see fit.
Lord Jesus, through your relationship with the Father, you demonstrate true love, so that we might emulate that perfection.
You do not break a bruised reed, nor put out a flickering wick; that’s how sacred all life is to you.
Even when I was seeking light in darkness, you left the 99 to find me.
Thank you for teaching me that I am worthy, and for entrusting me to go and offer that same hope to others.
Amen.
